   Sheila Catherine Boatman, 80, of Jersey Shore, passed away Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at the home of her daughter.
   Born Sept. 2, 1937, on the Wentzel farm near Loganton, she was a daughter to the late Sanford L. Sr. and Helen G. (Embick) Mingle.
   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, James R. Boatman in 1996. They were united in marriage on July 20, 1963, in Sugar Valley. Also preceding her in death were her three brothers, Glenn A., Edward C. and Richard B. Mingle; and two sisters, Freda P. Laielli and Ruth S. Frey.
   Sheila was a 1955 graduate of Sugar Valley High School. Earlier in her life she was employed as a seamstress by Weldon Pajama Factory, and worked at Woolrich Woolen Mills in the 1980's.
   She attended Mountain View Alliance Church. She was a member of the Comfort Stitchers outreach group, the Jersey Shore Modern Agers Club, and was a Porter Township Election official. Sheila enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, crocheting and gospel music. She was supremely proud of her grandchildren.
   Surviving are her daughter, Donna J. (Vernon) Harbach; grandchildren, Tyler, Jolene and Catherine Harbach; brothers, Sanford L. Jr. (Helen) Mingle and Lewis D. (Delores) Mingle; a sister, Doris J. (Donald) Nicholas; and many nieces and nephews.
   A funeral service honoring the life of Sheila will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Mountain View Alliance Church, 1515 Cemetery St., Jersey Shore, with a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service in church.
   Burial will be held at the Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
