Steven Shipman Obituary

Steve Shipman, 64, of Mill Hall passed away March 13, 2024. Born May 23, 1959 in Sumter, South Carolina he was the son of Betty Shipman and the late Vernon Shipman and Husband to Susan Shipman. Steve passed after a hard fought battle with a brief illness.

Steve was a family man that always focused his time on his beloved wife Susan and children and grandchildren. "Pops" loved going on trips and visiting them all across the country. He was also an active member of his church, Flemington First Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon. Generous with his time and resources, there was nothing he wouldn’t do for those around him. If you knew him you loved him. He was an incredible storyteller and always the life of every "party" as people would gather round to hear the next big tale!

Professionally, Steve was a true "Seedsman"; he was one-of-a-kind in the agricultural industry. Working in the corn and soybean seed sales industry for over 40 years, Steve helped 1000’s of farmers and 100’s of small agricultural businesses over the years to be successful in many ways. He was paramount in establishing multiple successful seed brands in central Pennsylvania. Few farmers in Pennsylvania didn’t know the man who went above and beyond for all he served.

Steve also had many hobbies including his sheep farm, snowmobiling, and always knowing the best place to eat! He would go on many snowmobile adventures every year to Maine, New York, Utah and many other places and loved to take his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Shipman (Kitchen) of Mill Hall; mother, Betty Shipman (Yerg) of Mill Hall; brother, Scott Shipman of Turbotville; sons, Brad (Courtney) Shipman, Brayden (Dara) Shipman; and grandchildren, Priscilla, Titus, Hosanna, Tabitha, and Oaklin Shipman.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St., Mill Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of Christ Youth Group.

Arrangements are entrusted to Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, Jersey Shore.
