   Leona P. Welsh, 86, of Jersey Shore, went to be with her Lord Friday morning  at the Manor Care North Health Center in Williamsport
   Born June 26, 1932, in Smethport, she was the daughter of Clarence Carpenter and the former Hannah Leet.
   She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Welsh, June 21, 2007. They were united in marriage March 2, 1951, at the Saint John Lutheran Church in Lock Haven. For many years Leona was a faithful member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church. Through the years Tom and Leona were foster parents to 100 children.
   Leona is survived by three sons: Thomas R. (Kristen) Welsh, of Lock Haven, Richard D. (Frances) Welsh, of Carlisle, and Stephen E. (Jennie) Welsh, of Jersey Shore; seven daughters: Jan Bailey, of Avis, Mary Youngblood, of Mill Hall, Cindy Mayes, of Mill Hall, Kelly Jo Hanley, of Jersey Shore, Emmy Marconi, of Mifflinburg, Brittney Welsh, of Lock Haven, and Karen Wagner, of Avis; her companion, Charles Bliss; 25 grandchildren and; several great-grandchildren.
   Leona was preceded in death by a daughter, Colleen A. Yenner; two brothers, Dick and Fred; and a sister, Minnie.
   Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 26, 2018, at the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday Evening at the funeral home.
Leona will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. The Rev. George Grossman, her pastor, will officiate.

I'm sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I remember coming.down to Avis to visit..

Leona was one of the sweetest persons I have ever known. I knew her when I lived in Avis for a few years with the Eichenlaub's. Please accept my sympathy for her. Love from, Shirley Bower
