Born August 26, 1953, in Williamsport, he was a son to the late Donald S. Thompson Sr., and the former Mary E. Grove.
Donnie was a graduate of Williamsport High School. He was the owner of Thompson's Auto, in Avis, for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 36, a Sergeant of Arms for the Legion Riders, VFW Post 5859, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 214, and the Elks Lodge No. 1057.
He enjoyed hunting, riding his Harley, shooting pool, breakfast with his friends and going to drag races. Donnie also loved history; he especially enjoyed his visits to Gettysburg with his son, Jeremy.
Surviving is his first and last love, Terri Coates, of Williamsport; daughter, Megan (Eric) Kulp, of Williamsport; two sons, Jason (Lori) Thompson, of Cogan Station, and Jeremy Thompson, of King of Prussia; five grandchildren, Sabrina, Alexis, Domonic, Isaac, and Wyatt; a brother, Steve (Tina) Thompson, of Salladasburg; three sisters, Bonnie (Joe) Worth, of Linden, Connie (Dave) Dawes, of Montoursville, and Ann Hodge of Linden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Monday evening, Nov. 19, at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, Nov. 20, at Welker Funeral Home. Pastor Jerry Uppling will officiate.
He will be laid to rest in the Salladasburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Legion Riders, 320 Seminary St., Jersey Shore, PA 17740.
