Music by The Piano Brothers

Robert D. Oakes, 75, of Pine Creek Township, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 18, 2019, at his home.
Born April 12, 1944, in Jersey Shore, he was the son to the late Dale C. Oakes and the former Evelyn Ross. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy C. Oakes, on June 3, 1995.
A fixture in the Jersey Shore business community for over 40 years, Bob opened West Branch Collision Repair in 1974. In 1984, he moved on to open his Nationwide Insurance agency, which he retired from in 2005. He was a member of the Jersey Shore Lions Club, the Elks Lodge No. 1057, and the La Belle Vallee Lodge 232  Masonic Temple.
Bob's greatest joy was his family, but he also loved his church family at Crossroads Community Church. Jesus became the center focus of his life, and his passion for living with a servant's heart often took him to the mission field to provide relief in areas affected by natural disasters. He was a mentor and friend to so many, and his strength and wisdom will be greatly missed.
Another great love of Bob's was classic cars, especially his 1957 Chevy Nomad. He was proud to tell you that he had the Nomad longer than he had his wife. To honor Bob's love of cars, the family would like to ask anyone who has classic cars to feel welcome to drive them to Bobás services.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, the former Nancy J. Geyer; they were united in marriage on Nov. 28, 1970, at Grace Lutheran Church in Jersey Shore. Also surviving are his children, Michael R. Oakes (Kelly), of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; Dewey T. Oakes (Stephanie), of Jersey Shore; and Jade J. Oakes-Hatt (Michael), of Jersey Shore; grandchildren, Kyla Oakes, Kennedy Snook and Timothy "Charlie" Snook; sisters, Patricia Hendricks (Rodger), of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and Linda Cevette of Painted Post, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday evening, April 24, 2019, at Crossroads Community Church, 1454 Route 44, Jersey Shore, PA 17740. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, at the church. He will be laid to rest at a later date in the Jersey Shore Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Bob's name be made to Crossroads Community Church.
