Lois J. Kline, 81, of Avis, passed from this life surrounded by her family, on April 26, 2019, at Susque-View Home.
Born Nov. 28, 1937, she was a daughter of James E. Sr. and Esther (Fisher) Mayes. She was the youngest of 11 children.
Lois was an honorary member of the Avis Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and received numerous achievement awards. She retired after several years at Susque-View Home, as a certified nursing assistant, was employed by Brodart and later provided housekeeping services for private residences.
She devoted most of her life to raising and loving her family and hosting family gatherings. She loved word search puzzle books, baking, cooking, gardening and shopping. You would often find her playing cards with her friends, putting puzzles together or spending time at the river lot in Linden. She liked to travel, and especially enjoyed visiting family in Arizona.
Lois was always on the go, helping others and keeping busy. She wouldn't let anything slow her down, even while battling Parkinson's disease for nearly 25 years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Stanley D. Kline. They were wed on Oct. 19, 1956, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avis.
Also surviving are her four children, Deborah Gibson, of Jersey Shore, Terri Kline (Dwain Harbst), of Altoona, David (Tammy) Kline, of Lock Haven, and Tim Sr. (Elaine) Kline, of Avis; 12 grandchildren, April, Tim Jr., Miranda, Brandon, Jolie, Kristine, Stacy, Jonathan, Ashlee, Dane, Derek and Alec.; two step-grandchildren, Stephanie and Kathy; 19 great-grandchildren, Kaden, Addisyn, Kameron, Talin, Wyatt, Emmet, Elliot, Jozie, Tucker, Blake, Jaxon, Alexis, Charlotte, Bennett, Hayley, Sara, Ali, Justin and Mason; a sister, Marjorie Myers, of West Seneca, N.Y., and a brother, Clifford Mayes, of Lock Haven. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and five brothers.
A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday evening at Welker Funeral Home. There will be no graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Avis Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, P.O. Box 714, Avis, PA 17721.
