Albert L. Steinbacher Jr.

     Albert L. Steinbacher Jr., 79, of Jersey Shore, passed away Monday, February 27, 2023 at the Gatehouse.
     Born November 10, 1943 in Jersey Shore, he was the son to the late Albert L. Steinbacher Sr. and the former Margie M. Collins.
     Albert was a 1961 graduate of Jersey Shore High School, where he excelled in football, went to States for wrestling, and held the Track and Field Pole Vault Record for many years. He worked at Penn College where he was awarded the 2000 Part-time Teaching Excellence Award in automotive and transportation technology. He served on the Penn College Advisory Board for many years. Albert also worked as General Manager for Sweitzer's Performance and Auto Sales for many years. Albert honorably served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1961-1968.
     Albert is survived by his loving wife, the former Mary Jane Engler, they were united in marriage on November 25, 1967; two daughters, Terri L. (Vern) Wasson, of Jersey Shore and Elisa A. (Bob) Howard, of Chambersburg, PA; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Diane E. (Larry) Swarthout, of Jersey Shore and Debbie M. (Steve) Sweitzer, of Jersey Shore.
     A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 2 at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore, followed by a  Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 2, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 118 Kendall Ave., Jersey Shore. He will be laid to rest in the Jersey Shore Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard. Father Bert Kozen will officiate. Following the graveside service, there will be a light luncheon at St. Luke’s Catholic Church.
