Alberta Ina Richards, 99, of Cogan Station, passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, at UPMC Susquehanna.
Born April 3, 1922, in Williamsport, she was a daughter to the late Albert I. Rathmell and the former Katherine Fritz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee W. Richards; and a grandson, Ryan Paulhamus; and her sisters, Eileen Hartman and Genevieve Harris.
Alberta was a member of the Salladasburg United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Larry's Creek Volunteer Fire Company Ladies' Auxilliary. She was a graduate of Williamsport High School. Earlier in her life, she worked at the Williamsport Municipal Water Company, Merit Finance Company and Mencer Insurance Company. For many years, she was a volunteer at the Leader Nursing Center in Jersey Shore.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey L. (Kathy) Richards of South Williamsport; a daughter, Gail L. (James) Rice of Cogan Station; grandchildren, J. Michael (Sara) Richards, Sarah M. (Hugh) Sprague, Chris F. (Kelly) Paulhamus, Beth A. (William) Solomon, Alex L. (Laurie LeFever) Paulhamus, and Nicola Paulhamus; great-grandchildren, Amelia, Gideon, and Naomi Richards, Gavin Sprague, Jonah, Luke, Lydia, Hannah, Noah and Kaseenah Paulhamus; and step grandchildren, Amy Frye, Ann Lorson and James L. Rice II.
Funeral services will be private. Family will provide the flowers.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Salladasburg Cemetery.
