Anthony W. Wool, 64, of Jersey Shore, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Geisinger, Danville.
Born on December 18, 1958 in Williamsport, he was a son to the late Norman "Buddy" F. Wool and the former Blanche E. Winchester. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Stephen; and his father and mother-in-law.
Tony was a skilled and knowledgable man who had a talent for fixing things, even though he may of been the one who broke it in the first place. He made a lasting impact on all who knew them and he will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to have known him. Tony used to love participating in mule shows, pony pulls, coon hunting competitions; a champion in all. He was a talented musician in numerous bands in the area since the late 70's on, and got to drum in Nashville on a couple different occasions. Tony was an active member of the Jersey Shore American Legion, V.F.W., Moose, Elks, and Lions Club.
He was a kind and loving husband, devoted father, and took great pride in his grandchildren and all their accomplishments and success. His kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Teri L. Wool; his daughters, Becky (Robby) Fisher and Patsy Wool (Josh Lovell); grandchildren, Emma, Lilly, Gabe "Buddy", Atorian "Tor", and Conor; siblings, Joan (Bob) Irvine and John Wool; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and every stranger he's ever met, that became a friend.
Tony, or "Big Head" as he was affectionately called by those he worked with, was an employee of Penn Dot from which he proudly retired in 2018. In his retirement, Tony continued to work, this time beside his great friend and "brother", Toby Welker.
A memorial gathering will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2023 at the Avis American Legion Post 284, 3115 Woodward Ave., Avis, PA. A brief memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. followed by a time of music, food, and fellowship. The family asks that all musicians bring your voice and choice of instrument to share.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Jersey Shore Lions Lions Club (Tony Wool Foundation), 2032 Dutch Hollow Road, Jersey Shore, PA 17740, to help give back to the community that Tony loved.
