Betty F. Brown

     Betty F. Brown, 98, of Jersey Shore, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at the Williamsport Home. 

     Born October 22, 1926 in Booneville, she was a daughter to the late Fred E. Fleisher and the former Rose M. Walizer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence L. "Brownie," they were united in marriage on December 28, 1947; three brothers, Fred "Bud" Fleisher Jr., Gerald "Piney" Fleisher, and James "Bob" Fleisher; and four sisters, June Gardner, Winifred "Toots" Barner, Vida Whipple, and Vivian Feerrar. 

     In 1954 she moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for 34 years and returned to Avis in 1987. Betty was a 1946 graduate of Jersey Shore High School. After graduation, she was employed as a telephone operator for Jersey Shore Telephone Company and in Florida as a sales person for Jordon Marsh Department Stores.

     She was a member of the Avis United Methodist Church and was very active in the church choir, woman's society group, and clown ministries. She volunteered for many years for the meals on wheels and was also a member of Jersey Shore Ivanhoe Chapter of Eastern Star. Betty loved to traveling to all 50 states and numerous countries all over the world, seeing and doing interesting things. She was very loving, compassionate, and caring person to everyone. 

     She is survived by two sisters, Mary Pepperman, of Jersey Shore and Dolores "Dolly" Derr, formerly of Lock Haven; and 19 nieces and nephews. 

     A visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the Avis United Methodist Church, 215 Prospect Ave., Avis, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at church. She will be laid to rest in the Rest Haven Memorial Park at a later date.
