Charles A. Hallett Sr., 100, lifelong resident of Lycoming and Clinton counties, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023 at the VA Medical Center in Bath, New York.
Born February 9, 1923 in Jersey Shore, PA, he was a son to the late Daniel T. Hallett and the former Mary S. Grand. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Grace E. Lupold.
Charles honorably served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a past owner of the Venture Inn and retired from Piper Aircraft after many years of service.
Charles was a past member 40 & 8, Jersey Shore Elks Lodge, and the Jersey Shore Moose. He was a life member of the Jersey Shore V.F.W. and a life member of the Avis American Legion where he served as a past Commander. He also served as Deputy District Commander of District 15.
He is survived by a son, Charles A. (Sharon) Hallett of Galeton; two daughters, Marveena E. (James) Cobb of Wellsboro and Grace E. (Larry) Runner of Germania; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St, Jersey Shore. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of service at Welker Funeral Home. The Rev. Dean Olson will officiate.He will be laid to rest in the Bellevue Cemetery in Avis with full military honors conducted by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard.
