Connie Lou Baker Welshans Eck, born March 25, 1938, in South Williamsport, passed away surrounded by the memories of a life centered on family, creativity, kindness, and hard work. She spent most of her years in the Nippenose Valley and Jersey Shore communities she dearly loved.
Connie earned her beauty school certificate before beginning a career with West Company in Jersey Shore. After taking an early retirement, she devoted her time to the things that brought her the greatest happiness was painting, planting flowers and tending gardens, hosting picnics, and preparing holiday meals that gathered family and friends together. An avid dog lover, Connie always had a special place in her heart for animals and found joy in caring for them.
Known for her generous spirit, Connie was always there to lend a helping hand to others. She thrived when she had something to do and rarely sat still, finding fulfillment in caring for her home, family, friends, and community. Her warmth, energy, and willingness to help those around her will be remembered by all who knew her.
Above all, Connie was a devoted mother who raised four sons, Wayne P. Welshans, of Florida, Randy Welshans (Patrick Bonner), of Williamsport, Craig Welshans, of Jersey Shore, and Matthew Welshans, of North Carolina. She was also a loving grandmother to her two grandson, Torrance Welshans, of North Carolina and Hayden Welshans, of Oregon; and her granddaughter, Danna Brooks, of Linden. Connie was blessed to be a great-grandmother to Abagale Brooks, who brought added joy to her life and family.
She will be remembered for her creativity, her love of family gatherings, her compassionate heart, and the welcoming home she created for those she loved. Her memory will live on in the gardens she planted, the meals she shared, and the many lives she touched through her kindness and care.
She will be laid to rest in the Jersey Shore Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, Jersey Shore. www.WelkerFuneralHome.com.
