Daniel Roupp Obituary

Daniel Louis Roupp (D.L., Danny, Big Dan, Dan), 72, of Brookside, Pa, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

He was born on April 9, 1952, in Williamsport, and was a son of the late Leo Burdette and Lois (Mertes) Roupp. D.L. married Theresa J. Forer April 3, 1971.

D.L. was a graduate of Liberty High School, in the class of 1970 and enjoyed wrestling. He followed in his grandfather’s and father’s footsteps and continued to expand their logging business at the age of eighteen and bought his first 350 John Deere dozer. In the early 70’s, he bought his first sawmill and expanded his business to D.L. Roupp Lumber Company. He often enlisted the help of the local farms boys and many family members including his wife-Theresa, son-Jeremy, daughter-Danielle, two sisters-Jerry and Sue. Additional help was always welcome from the entire Cogan House community and extended community friends. He retired from the logging and sawmill business in 1999. Over the years, he was a member of Larry’s Creek Fish and Game Club for 37 years.

He enjoyed hunting and the peaceful rocking on the porch. He was an avid voice and supervisor of Cogan House Township for thirteen ½ years. He received the Cogan House Township Recreation Community Citizens of the Year award in 2019. During the last 10 years, D.L. invested a great deal of his time with the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors Inc. (Harrisburg Chapter). He was the founder of "THE SHOOT-OUT" in 2014. In those 10 years, he helped to raise over $300,000; $76,000+ alone in 2024 for local PA Veterans. D.L. always said "We want to have their backs, since they’ve always had ours." D.L. loved telling stories often with embellishments, outdoors, horses, motorcycle riding through the back country roads, Penn State football, spending time with his family and many friends, and most of all being a cowboy. May the man of many hats rest in peace.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Theresa; two children, Jeremy B. (Susan) Roupp of Selinsgrove, Pa; Danielle L. (Frank) Bardo III of Conestoga, Pa; three grandchildren, Silas and Elin Roupp, Miranda Bardo; sisters, Lois Roupp of Pocatello, Idaho; Christine (Donald) Hettinger of Townsend, Mont; Jerry DeMorat, Trout Run, Pa; Rebecca (William) Smith, Morris, Pa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
