Darlene Kaye Kehoe

     Darlene Kaye Kehoe, 77, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, April 25, 2025, at Jersey Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation. 

     Born March 29, 1948, in Jersey Shore, she was a daughter to Graydon "Pete" DuPree and the former Colleen Bowmaster. She was a 1966 graduate of Jersey Shore High School. 

     She is survived by her sons, Randy Kehoe (Bobbie Shadle) and Robert "Bobby" (Crystal) Kehoe; grandchildren, Katrina, Brandi and Brittney; great-grandchild, Jace; siblings, Graydon "Pete" (Becky) DuPree, Amy (Jeff) Brooks, Jennifer (Scott) Gordner, and Debbie (Mike) Herman; 7 nieces and nephews, 11 great-nieces and nephews; and several cousins. 

     She was a leader of the Avis Fire Co Ladies Auxiliary and served as President for numerous years. She would be seen at all fundraising events and always there in support of the fire fighters. 

     During the late 70s and early 80s she was an at home babysitter for dozens of children throughout the Avis area. Additionally, during that time, she was a Friendly Home Toy Party demonstrator. For several years she also was the cook at the old Bonner House where she created or helped create a house dressing and a cole slaw recipe they became known for. Many try to replicate it to this day. For twenty plus years she worked for UniMarts, in management in several different stores from Beech Creek to Williamsport. Until Covid she was employed by Experience Works, a program which provided clinics for elderly and underprivileged individuals in need of prescription eyeglasses. Her territory covered the area from North Central Pa to the Northern and Eastern border. 

     She loved to bake; was known for her Peanut Butter Fudge and sticky buns were a crowd favorite. She also made a mean potato salad. She loved cuddling with her cat, talking with friends, watching tv and NASCAR. She was a Philadelphia Eagles, Notre Dame and Penn State football fan. She never missed the Little league World Series games. 

     She served on the Avis Zoning Hearing Board, Avis Area Recreation and as already mentioned the Avis Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. 

     A celebration of Darlene's life will be held on Saturday,May 10 at the Avis Volunteer Fire Company, 1 E. Central Ave., Avis. 1-4 p.m., with a brief ceremony and time for sharing at 2:30 p.m. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Darlene’s life and legacy. Come and share in a time of food and fellowship with your favorite Darlene memories or stories. Family requests comfortable attire. 

     In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Avis Fire Co 1 E Central Ave, Avis, Pa 17721 or the Avis Area Recreation Association, PO Box 118, Avis, Pa 17721. Arrangements are entrusted to Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, Jersey Shore.
