Dolores (Dee) Edna Scherer, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 18, 2023, at the age of 90, at the Susque-View Home in Lock Haven. She was born on May 10, 1933, to William H. Johnson and Elizabeth D. Rapp.
Dolores was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Robert C. Scherer, with whom she shared a lifetime of memorable experiences. She found joy in playing tennis, bridge, and engaging in competitive games of cribbage or backgammon as a daily morning ritual with her husband.
She is survived by her four devoted children, sons, Craig U. Scherer and Kevin C. Scherer; and daughters, Kirsten A. Whipple and Kathryn S. Shockro. Dolores's legacy continues through her 19 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A beacon of creativity, Dee found serenity and inspiration through her passion for art. Her artistic talents were a testament to her unique ability to capture the worldás beauty and translate it onto canvas. Whether capturing the vivid hues of a sunset or the intricate details of a delicate flower, Dolores's artistry enabled her to share her perspective and forge connections with those who admired her work.
The family warmly invites friends and loved ones to commemorate Delores's life at a memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. The Rev. Dean Olson of Hope River Church will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. https://www.alz.org.
As we reflect upon Dolores Edna Scherer's life, let us remember the beauty she beheld in the world.
Her love for art painted our lives with beauty; her passing leaves a canvas of memories in our hearts.
