Ellsworth Chester "Chet" Overdorf, 82, of Jersey Shore, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022 at his home.
Born Sept. 22, 1939 in Lock Haven, he was a son to the late Chester Elsworth Overdorf and the former Dorothy Zink. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step daughter, Billie Jo Wiengsima.
Chet was known to his family and friends as a "Mr. Fix it." He had a passion for working on all types of projects including vehicles. He enjoyed hunting, camping and drag racing. He was the rock of his family, and was always there willing to lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his loving wife, the former Linda I. Brown; four children, Chet (Liz) Overdorf, of Jersey Shore, Edward (Caroline) Overdorf, of Madison, Pa., Debra Overdorf (Donald Wagner) of Lock Haven and Mike (Roxanne) Overdorf, of Avis; stepchildren, Michele Hively and David Wilson, both of Jersey Shore; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Carol) Overdorf of Jersey Shore; sister, Virgie McGill, of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022 at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, Jersey Shore. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of service.
