Francis W. McConnell

     Francis W. McConnell, 80, of Turbotville and Jersey Shore, passed away Monday, April 5, 2021 at the Muncy Skilled Rehabilitation and Nursing Unit.
     Born Jan. 7, 1941 in Cresson, he was a son to the late Oscar T. McConnell Sr. and the former Mary Rita Farabaugh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, the former Patricia L. Miller on Jan. 20, 2018. They were united in marriage Nov. 23, 1963 at the Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cresson, Pa.
     Francis honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Church of Saint Luke and the Knights of Columbus, both in Jersey Shore. He retired from the Conrail after many years of service and volunteered for the Meals on Wheels.
     He is survived by a son, Michael D. McConnell of Turbotville; daughters, Leslie K. Benshoff of Bloomsburg, Kelly P. (Scott) Alleman of Milton and Shawna L. (Matthew) Starbuck of Raleigh, N.C.; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Oscar Thomas (Nancy) McConnell Jr. of Loretto, Pa. and Richard (Sandy) McConnell of Nicktown, Pa and a sister, Mary Margaret Jasper of Ebensburg.
     A time of visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore.
     The Jersey Shore Honor Guard will conduct full military honors at 7 p.m. Thursday.
     He will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Saint Francis Xavier Cemetery in Cresson, Pa at a later date.
