Gale Panaski Obituary

It is with heavy hearts the family of Gale (Hiney) Panaski inform you that on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020 Gale lost her battle with cancer.

Diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer the end of April this year, she spent the summer surrounded by family, going through treatments and spending time with her sister-in-law/best friend Kathy. By the end of July plans of travel & a big move were well underway and tests showed that no remaining cancer could be found.

Her new lease on life began with a cross country adventure escorted by Sue Ellen, JaTanna & Cassidy and with Gizmo by her side. The trip involved a stop in Iowa to chat with her brother Bill "Butch" (through a window), a brief visit to the Grand Canyon, a short detour down the Vegas Strip (not getting out, of course) and a few days in the Southern California area.

On Sunday, August 30th she arrived on The Big Island. Unaware of the extent that the cancer had returned, she had a few more good weeks on the island and she passed away rather unexpectedly (but quickly) at Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa, Hawai'i.

Born in October of 1956, Gale was a daughter to the late William and Arlene "Jean" (Ross) Hiney of Lock Haven, a member of LHHS class of 1974 and a valued friend to many. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her daughter Shaynna, her husband Tim Panaski and her brother James "Rusty" Hiney.

She is survived by her beloved fur-baby Gizmo, two daughters: JaTanna (Cassidy) Hamilton of Lock Haven and Sue (Mark) Cohen of Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i along with one sister: Peg (Norm) Johnson of Mill Hall, two brothers: William "Bill" Hiney of Ankeny, Iowa and John Hiney of Lock Haven; as well as five grandchildren and 12 nieces & nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home in Jersey Shore at a date yet unknown and will be broadcast via Facebook live for those who are unable to make it. Details will follow on Gale's Facebook page, if you're not online please check with the family.
