Gertrude L. Rice, 88, of Jersey Shore, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021 at Rose View Center.
Born Jan. 3, 1933 in Elkand, she was a daughter to the late George W. Button and the former Jenny M. Bollinger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, George, Ralph, Eugene, Robert and Joseph; four sisters, Katherine, Hilda, Winifred and Violet; a granddaughter, Jennie M. Cunningham; and a great-granddaughter, Ava McAndrew.
For many years she worked as an OR technician and also worked as a nanny.
She is survived by her husband, Van R. Rice; they were united in marriage on April 8, 1950. Also surviving is a son, David Van (Rosa) Rice, of Alpine, N.Y.; daughters, Betty (Dave) Ruggiers, of Ithaca, N.Y., Bonnie J. (Scott) Cunningham, of Lock Haven, Judy (Marty) Crippen, of Raleigh, N.C., and Jo Lee Bailey, of Jersey Shore; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Geraldine Compton, of Watkins Glen, N.Y., Maxine Collins, of Okeechobee, Fla., and Sharon Noblit, of Lawrenceville, Pa.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
