H. Lyle Landon Obituary

     H. Lyle Landon, 95, formerly of White Pine passed peacefully on Nov. 13, 2022 at The Williamsport Home.
Born April 26, 1927, in White Pine, he was the eldest son of the late Harry and Evelyn (Bonnell) Landon.
Lyle attended the White Pine School until the eighth grade, and then worked on the family farm.
During World War II, he bravely served in the U.S. Army while he was stationed in Italy.
Upon returning home, he worked tirelessly to establish a working dairy farm in Cogan House. It was there that he and his former wife, Ruth, raised their five children, David Landon, of Cogan House, Steven Landon (Cynthia), of California, Janet Ulmer (Garry), of Cogan Station, Julie Williams (Dave), of Linden, and Philip Landon (Penny), of Cogan House.
In addition to farming, Lyle worked as a rural substitute mail carrier for over thirty years. His work ethic was exceptional and something to be admired. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, the VFW, the American Legion, and the Jersey Shore Elks.
Lyle enjoyed hunting, bowling, spending time with his family, and dancing.
In addition to his children, Lyle is also survived by his grandchildren, Jerone Landon, Clifford Landon, Sable Landon, Sarah Kuehne, Abbie Allison, Eric Williams, Nikolas Landon, Quinn Landon, and Zachariah Landon; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Richard Landon, Pauline Farrow, and Betty Heivly. He is survived by his sister, Ruby Shimko.
A funeral service to honor the life of Lyle will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18 at White Pine United Methodist Church, 45 Campbell Road, Trout Run. A full military burial by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard will follow in Summit Cemetery, White Pine.
Lyle was a true patriot and was proud of his country. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lyle’s name to American Red Cross Military Aid.
