Harold Verus Lehman, 97, of Jersey Shore, passed peacefully Saturday Dec. 3, 2022, at his home.
Born Sept. 9, 1925 in Jersey Shore, he was the son of Chester Lehman and the former Sophie Becker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Phoebe E. Ramsey on May 11, 2022. They were united in marriage Oct. 11, 1947. Three brothers, Harry, George, and Glenn also preceded him in death.
For many years, he was a self-employed house painter and paper hanger. Harold honorably served his country as a U.S. Marine Corps. from 1943 to 1946. He assisted in the reclamation of the Pacific Islands and China after World War II.
Harold is survived by a son, James V. Lehman, of Jersey Shore; a granddaughter, Jodean L.( Leslie) Schmouder, of Jersey Shore; great-granddaughter, Tasha Lillian (Derrick) Stiner; great-grandsons, Nathaniel and Zander Schmouder; great-great-grandsons, Brentli and Anthony Stiner; and a sister, Helen (David) Keister.
A graveside service will be held Thursday Dec. 8, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the Jersey Shore Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard.
