James W. Kreighbaum Jr., 74, of Avis, passed away after a courageous battle on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at the Gatehouse.
Born Sept. 10, 1947 in Jersey Shore, he was a son to the late James W. Kreighbaum Sr. and the former Ruth E. Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-brother, Johnny Fielder.
James honorably served his country in the United States Army, earning many medals and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of the Wings over Williamsport RC Club, enjoyed building and flying model planes, working in the yard, boating, fishing, but most importantly, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, the former Frances V. Bauman; daughter, Susan (Kevin) Snyder of Northumberland; brother, Gayle (Stella) Kreighbaum of Akron, OH; several nieces and nephews; and his half-sister-in-law, Mary Fiedler.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2022 at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. A time of visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Monday until the time of service at Welker Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Rest Haven Memorial Park, with full military honors conducted by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard.
