James Moodler Jr. Obituary

James L. Moodler Jr., 87, of Avis, was welcomed into Heaven on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, at the Gatehouse, Williamsport.
Born June 8, 1935, in Lock Haven, he was a son of James L. Moodler Sr. and Nellie Graffius Moodler. He was a graduate of Lock Haven high school. On Sept. 16, 1955, he married his love, Lois Jean Leitch, who preceded him in death March 4, 2017.
Jim honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and National Guard. He worked in the local housing industry for many years and retired from International Paper. After retirement, he enjoyed working in his woodshop, crafting furniture. He loved listening to music, especially Johnny Cash, hunting, and fishing in his younger years, and was well known for the tall tales he would share. He also enjoyed cooking and gardening, and spoiling his many bulldogs and Boston terriers, who were his companions through the years. He always looked forward to road trips to the casino, and looked forward to rooting on the Bulldogs and Penn State football teams. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He and Jean were active members of the Pine Creek Valley Christian Church and assisted with many dinners in their younger years. He was a member of LaBelle Vallee Lodge #232 F&AM, and he and Jean volunteered in the concession booth at the Little League World Series for many summers. He loved Christmas and always looked forward to decorating the house for the holidays.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Mark, Mary Ann Miller, and Marie Wingfield.
Surviving are his children, James (Tammy) Moodler, of Avis, Julie Moodler (Jeff Breon), of Avis, Joseph (Joy) Moodler, of Centre Hall, Janna (Thomas) Riggle, of Jersey Shore, and Joni (Ted) Fink, of Avis. Pop will also be missed by his grandchildren, Amber (Mark) Dauberman, Jennifer (Chris) Bowling, Evan Bletz (Katelyn Hull), Christina (Adam) Miller, Alexandria (KC) Hensler, Breonna Fink (Owen Ollar), and Samuel Moodler; and great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Colton, Clayton, Eden, Amelia, Carson, and Kurtis. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022 at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Visitation will be held at 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, Nov. 9, 2022 at Welker Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Rest Haven Memorial Park with full military honors conducted by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard.  Pastor Mark Beard will officiate.
The family would like to thank his caregiver, Paula, and the hospice caregivers, for their support. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Susquehanna Health Foundation (Home Care and Hospice), 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
