James W. Riggle, 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on May 21, 1949 in Jersey Shore, son to the late Elmer Leroy Riggle and the former Meda E. McClure.
He was a member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church. He worked for many years at Alcan Cable.
If you could only choose one word to describe Jim, it would be "kind," but oh how many other wonderful words could be used to tell how very special he is. Is, not was, because he accepted Jesus as his savior and has eternal life that is promised to all who ask Him into their hearts. Jim wants all to know the joy, hope, love, and peace he found living for the Lord, even through the hardest trial of his life. If you don't now, please attend a bible believing church and you will find what your life is missing, even when you think "you have it all." Romans 10:9-10
He is survived by his loving wife, the former Barbara J. Whitman, they were united in marriage on March 20, 1976. Also surviving are his daughters, Leanna (Ernest) Harter, of Avis, Deanna (Daren) Bitler, of Montoursville, Stacey (Mike) Eckley, of Elysburg, Amanda E. Riggle, of Myrtle Beach, and Abbey M. Riggle, of Lock Haven; nine grandchildren, two granddaughters at home, Megan (Travar) Blanc and Emily Graham; one great-grandchild; brothers, Kenneth (Carol) Riggle, of Cogan Station and R. Scott (Cindy) Riggle, of Jersey Shore; and his sisters, Fernetta (Chester) Klingensmith, of Leechburg, PA, Cathy Young, of Jersey Shore, and Lila (Charlie) Gehr, of Williamsport.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Walnut Street Baptist Church, 201 W. Highland St., Avis. There will be no public visitation. The Rev. George Grossman will officiate.
