James R. Rishel Sr.

     James R. Rishel Sr., 69, of Loganton, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2025 at UPMC Williamsport. 

     Born Sept. 19, 1955 in Jersey Shore, he was the son to the late Robert G. Rishel and the former Esther I. Rauch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy A. Strum, and a granddaughter, Olivia N. Rishel. 

     James was a 1974 graduate of Jersey Shore High School, attended WACC, and honorably served his country in the United States Army. For many years, he worked as the parts manager for TA Lamar. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. 

     He is survived by his loving wife, the former Dorothy Welsh, they were united in marriage on April 10, 1976; two sons, James R. Rishel Jr. of Lock Haven and Jonathan M. (Katie) Rishel of Latrobe; daughter, Salina L. Rishel of Williamsport; a sister, Edie M. Cox of Selinsgrove; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

     A visitation will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 4 at St. James Lutheran Church, 3242 Middle Rd., Jersey Shore, followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. Full military honors will be conducted at church by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard. Pastor Gary Shumway will officiate. He will be laid to rest at a later date in the Fairview Cemetery in Loganton.
