James L. Ward Sr., 72, of 124 E. Summit St., Avis, died Monday evening, Sept. 2, 2013, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 10, 1940, in Jersey Shore, he was the son of James M. Ward and the former Anna L. Campbell. He is survived by his wife, the former Victoria J. Monks, they were united in marriage June 17, 1962, in Cedar Run.
Jim was retired from Textron and served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a life member of the 40-8 Club, Lock Haven and Williamsport Loyal Order of Moose Clubs, and the Avis American Legion. He served as governor of the Lock Haven Moose and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He also served on the Avis Borough Council and was a member of the LaBelle Vallee Lodge No. 232 Jersey Shore.
Also surviving are two sons, James L. (Donna) Ward Jr., of Rauchtown, and Robert C. Ward, of Avis; four grandchildren, Robert Ward, Dennis McGill, Brandie Ward and Jamie Rose; two step-grandchildren, Sabrina Caris and Joseph Caris; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry (Carole) Ward, of Florida; and two sisters, Anna âNanceã (Jack) Hawkins of Ashland and Mary Lou Lesher of Ashland.
Jim was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy S. McGill; a grandaughter, Amanda McGill; and a brother, Dean Ward.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday evening Sept. 6, 2013, at the Lock Haven Loyal Order of Moose, No. 100, 150 S. Hanna St., Lock Haven, PA 17745. Private memorial services will follow at 8 p.m.
Family will provide flowers and suggest memorial contributions be made in his name to the Lock Haven Loyal Order of Moose.
