John Charles Lehman, 72, of Jersey Shore, passed away Sunday, Jan. 9 after a brave fight against COVID. John was born on May 18, 1949 to Evelyn June Getgen Groupe and Ned Charles Lehman.
John started his construction career in high school, working for his beloved uncles, Dick and Quig Lehman and later spent most of his career as the General Superintendent for Lundy Construction in Williamsport. After retirement, he and his wife, Susan, enjoyed their time traveling for their firearms business, J & S Arms. John also took pride in his 29 years of U.S. Army Reserve service retiring as a Master Sergeant. In his spare time, he loved to ride his Harley, spend time on the boat locally and on Canada’s Rideau River, and relaxing with his dog, Gunner.
John is survived by his wife of more than fifty years, Susan Fenstermaker Lehman; two children, Jennifer Lehman Wentzel (Gary) of Pleasant Prairie, Wiss. and Steven Lehman (Dana) of Medina County, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jakob, Caleb, Ashley, Sahara, Grady and Kai; and three siblings, Mary Lehman Reese (Robert), Carl (Jim) Lehman (Gloria Ann), and Brenda Lehman Huling (Marvin).
In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory can be made to the Lycoming County SPCA (lycomingspca.org).
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21, in the Oval Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard.
