John E. Warren Jr. of Avis, Pa. passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 17 at Susque View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lock Haven, Pa.
Born Aug. 18, 1935, in Jersey Shore. John was the second son born to the late John E. Warren Sr. and the former Frances L. Siegel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lily and his older brother Ronald S. Warren.
He started his lifelong passion for work at middle school age by working as a handyman for Goodman's Garage in Jersey Shore. After high school he continued his education at Penn Tech in Williamsport.
John also served his country by joining the U.S. Army Reserves. His dedication to serve continued throughout his life with Salladasburg, Avis, Waterville and Jersey Shore Citizen's Fire Companies. He was a huge supporter of local Police Depts. and worked in security for the Jersey Shore High School. He had many years to enjoy all these activities after he retired from a lengthy term as office manager for "TransCo".
John is survived by his son Alan D. Warren of Avis, a sister Mary Elizabeth Vairo of Lock Haven, a brother Lee F. Warren of Fresno , CA. and a granddaughter Leah Larson Frederick and also many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. He will be laid to rest in the Jersey Shore Cemetery.
