Joseph H. Ulsamer, 66, formerly of Avis, and recently a resident of Montoursville, passed away at UPMC Gatehouse surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022.
He was born in Jersey Shore on July 10, 1955, a son of Carl J. and Wilhelmina (Steinbacher) Ulsamer.
Joe was a graduate of Bishop Neumann High School and worked as a successful salesman for Equipment Depot, the former Forklifts Inc., for 34 years, creating lasting friendships with some of the clients he served.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception and Saint Luke’s parishes of Bastress and Jersey Shore, as well as a member of Knights of Columbus Council 4738, Jersey Shore, becoming a Fourth-Degree member when active in its ranks.
Joe courageously battled Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for 28 years. In his earlier years, Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, antiquing and projects around his house. More recently he enjoyed coin collecting, attending local auctions, family history research and time spent with family and friends. The family is very thankful for all those who called or visited Joe when his MS made it difficult for him to travel.
In addition to his mother, Joe is survived by his children, Amy (David) Walton, Natalie (Jeremy) Ulsamer, Jeremy (Kaitlin) Ulsamer, Luke (Megan) Ulsamer, Kyle (Britnee) Ulsamer, Sarah (Jonathan) Ulsamer; 6 grandchildren, Morgan, Harley, Madison, Hale, Ridge and Caleb.
Joe is also survived by siblings Connie (Joseph) Engel, Carl E. (Dee) Ulsamer, Donna (Hal) Ulsamer-Thomas, Cindy Coraggio and Theresa (Sean) Knott.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl J. Ulsamer and a brother-in-law, Rocco G. Coraggio.
The family will receive family and friends at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore, on Monday, February 21, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022 at Immaculate Conception of the BVM, 5973 Jacks Hollow Road, Bastress, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
The family expresses their sincere thanks for the extremely loving and caring staff that helped with his care at the Gatehouse and ask that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Susquehanna Health Foundation c/o The Gatehouse, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
