Kenneth Eck Obituary

Kenneth C. Eck, 60, of Bastress Twp., died peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023 at home with his family, due to complications of cancer.
He was born in Jersey Shore on Oct. 20, 1962, a son to Edward and C. Ann (Berry) Eck.
Ken graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1980, and WACC in 1982. He worked for Norcen Industries for 43 years as a Machinist. For 23 years, he taught at Penn College, and was a beloved professor who many students sought out later in life for machining advice.
Ken was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Bastress Twp. and the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Schwartswald Hunting Club, where he served as President for 13 years and enjoyed hunting with his father, brothers, and son. He was also a member of the Elbow Fish and Game Club, and the NRA.
Ken enjoyed his time at camp, hunting in both archery and rifle season. He and his family also enjoyed the annual fishing derby, sled riding, four wheeling, trap shooting, and spotlighting deer in the evenings. Ken coached Pop Warner football, Little League Baseball, and Girls Softball. He was very active in the Nippenose Valley Little League Board, as well as the combined Board for Girls Softball with Jersey Shore. He was also a ski club volunteer chaperone.
He was a devoted and loving husband and father. He was so proud of his children and all their accomplishments. And, just simply loved all their friends and treated them all as his own.
Surviving is his wife, Jody A. (Marks) Eck, they celebrated their 32nd anniversary on June 30, 2022. Also surviving are his children, Kory C. Eck (Blair N. Russo and daughter Gia M.), Janel A. Eck (Shon M. Huyck), and Krista A. Eck (Koby L. Peacock); brothers, Edward M. (Laurie) Eck, Herman J. (Christine) Eck, and Stephen A. Eck, William F. (Maureen) Eck, and Kevin R. (Kristyn) Eck; a sister, Cathy M. (Randy) Stover; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He loved spending time in the pool, grilling, and Sunday night dinners with the whole family. His grilling times were based upon how many beers he could drink until it was cooked to perfection! He will be loved, missed, and past times cherished for eternity by all who knew him; because "everybody loves Ken."
The family would like to thank the RN's and staff at the Hillman Cancer Center, and also Mindi and Keisha, our hospice nurses, for all their love and care.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening, Jan. 5, 2023 at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore.
