Kenneth W. Englert Sr., of Jersey Shore, went to be with our Lord on Monday, October 14, 2024. Ken was 77 years old and was born on November 25, 1946.
Ken was proud to be a Marine and to have served his country during the Vietnam War. He was wounded during the war and received the Purple Heart. During his time of service to our country, he met his life-long friend, Frenchy Marcouillier from Maine and they have maintained their friendship for 58 years.
Ken graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1964 and received a degree in Architectural Drafting from Williamsport Area Community College. He worked for PennDot as a transportation inspector until his retirement in 2006.
He was the son of the late Deward and Elsie Englert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael; and three brothers, Deward, Robert and Joseph.
Ken was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Bonnie (Myers) Englert. They shared 57 wonderful years together. Also surviving are his children, Ken Jr. (Korinda) of Oval, Diane Socha (David) of South Williamsport, and Susan Hill (Richard Lajoie) of Williamsport; a sister, Carol Riggle; 7 grandchildren, Tasha Quiggle (Matthew), Alicia Englert, Brandon Socha (Brooke), Ryan Hill, Rebecca Anderson (Travis), Zachary Socha, and Ethan Hill; 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Ken was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He also attended functions at the Vets Center in Williamsport where he had many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. A visitation will be held from 12 noon until the time of service Thursday at Welker Funeral Home. Pastor Calvin Phillips will officiate. He will be laid to rest in the Woolrich Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard.
