Lauri Dee McDermit, 65, of Jersey Shore, passed away Friday, May 29, 2026 at Jersey Shore Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Born February 26, 1961 in Lock Haven, she was a daughter to Raymond Brookens and the former Maureen Turner. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Miller, and a brother, Michael Brookens.
Dee was a 1979 graduate of Lock Haven High School. Earlier in her life she worked at Head Start, Chateau Cherished Moments Bridal Store, drove school bus in Avis for special needs children, and most recently Faxon Cleaners. Dee was a gifted seamstress and found great joy in creating beautiful pieces and sharing her talent and creativity with those she loved.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her loving husband, William W. McDermit; her son, Levi W. McDermit; two daughters, Ashley M. (Jason) Moyer and Katie M. McDermit; a sister, Tracy Hess; a brother, David Brookens; 5 grandsons; and a granddaughter.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
