Lavern Anthony Lorson, 87, of Limestone Township, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at the Jersey Shore Nursing Home.
Born April 20, 1936, in Nippenose Valley, he was a son to the late Anthony P. Lorson and the former Catherine Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, LeeAnn Lorson; brothers, Robert, Eugene and Francis Lorson; and sisters, Josephine Clark and Eileen Audet.
Lavern was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Church, a member of the Holy Name Society and Lion's Club, and a baseball coach. He worked as a bus driver, employed by Vidmar and Bethlehem Steel, and served as the Supervisor of Limestone Township. He was an avid Notre Dame fan, loved watching his children and grandchildren's sporting events and enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by his loving wife, the former Patsy V. Garrett; they were united in marriage on Aug. 9, 1958; two sons, Fred L. Lorson (Jenny) of Jersey Shore and Doug J. Lorson of Nippenose Valley; two daughters, Sherry E. Buttorff (Keith) of Nippenose Valley and Barb A. Hollinger (Robert) of York Haven; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, John, Leonard and Andrew Lorson, all of Nippenose Valley, Gerald Lorson of Elizabethtown, and Donald Lorson of Georgia; and a sister, Patricia Williams of Williamsport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Church, 6001 Jacks Hollow Rd., Williamsport, PA 17702. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. He will be laid to rest in the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery.
