Lois Conrad Obituary

Our angel on Earth, Lois V. Conrad (George), 87, of Avis earned her Heavenly wings on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Lois was born and raised in Portage Pennsylvania with her mother, the former Margaret M. Donahue; father, James George; twin brothers, Jim and Joe Sample; and three sisters, Martha Morway, Priscilla Secrisky, and Yvonne Kick, all of whom she was reunited with on Tuesday.

During her time at Portage High School, Lois was Head Majorette for many a football game, but would often tell people, she really did not understand it well her joke being, what inning is it? If you ever met Lois, you know she adored and loved her husband, Robert (Bob) J. Conrad, with whom she celebrated 66 years of marriage on January 9th. The two of them were inseparable. Even though she still drove herself, there were times Bob would take her places and joked about "driving Miss Daisy." He drove her to her shops, yard sales, the Salvation Army Store, and Goodwill, where she would find what she called treasures. If there was a deal to be found or something you needed, she would find it, even if it was a few years later.

She is survived by a son, Jeffrey R. (Laurie) Conrad, of Forest Hill, MD; daughters, Catherine A. (Keith) Schreppel, of Rauchtown, Vickie L. (Michael) Allen, of Jersey Shore, and Lisa K. (Barry) Enders, of Jersey Shore; 15 grandchildren, Eric C., Jason, Eric S., Chad, Kevin, Melissa, Steve, Cody, Jess, Alycia, Danielle, Jena, Holly, Cameron, and Connor; 15 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

When you talked to Lois, you knew her children were her biggest pride and joy. No matter what they had going on, she was there wrestling, baseball, track and field, softball, cheerleading, cross country, and as her kids got older, appointments, surgeries, etc.. She attended all the events/activities she could and that pride and love for family increased and continued with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Getting together was the greatest pleasure for her the activity did not matter - she laughed and smiled the entire time.

In her last few days, the family spoke of numerous experiences and were reminded of many joyful memories to hold close to them. Everyone agreed she made the best Mrs. Grass noodle soup with extra ABC noodles and butter. She was known for her pigs in a blanket/stuffed cabbage, lasagna, meatballs, and stuffed peppers. She ALWAYS made sure everyone had something to eat even after her kids got off the late bus at 6:30, Lois had something saved to eat after practice. She was a homemaker throughout her married life in which she volunteered at Avis Elementary in the 70’s. She was devoted to her family and friends and had many fun nights with her card club friends once a month. An avid card player, she loved a good game of 500 Rummy, Set Back, or Blitz in which her competitive spirit emerged. She loved to win, but taught her children that someone had to lose (even if that was not her goal).

To everyone who helped Lois in her remaining days, THANK YOU!!! To UPMC Williamsport - the love and care you gave to her and the whole family no words will ever really encompass the appreciation the family has. EVERY person, no matter their title, gave her extraordinary care. For that, the family is forever grateful. Lois was also a very faithful woman and was upset if she could not make it to mass each week. Her favorite saint was Saint Jude, the patron saint of hopeless cases, desperate situations, and lost causes. To that end, she was a loyal contributor to the Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the family asks that in lieu of flowers, that you may consider donating to the St. Jude organization at stjude.org and saying prayers for all those in need of its services. Her huge heart and the love she had for all, will be the biggest treasure her family and friends will hold on to.

Until we meet again, see you later Blue-Eyed Honey/Mom/Gram/Friend.
