Mary Jane Bailey

     Mary Jane Bailey, 97, went to her Lord on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023. She left this world at the Gatehouse with family at her bedside.

     She was the daughter to Max "Mike" and Clara (Eckenstine) Bastian of Jersey Shore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Bailey Sr. in 2012 after being married for 63 years.

     She graduated from Jersey Shore High School class of 1944. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, reading Tom Clancy novels, political biographies, and keeping up with current events. She believed in supporting the Reagan and Bush presidential libraries. The League of Woman Voters awarded her for voting in every election for fifty years. She was active in trade organizations when the dairy farm was operating. In later years, she collected books and magazines and listened to late night talk radio.

     She is survived by two sons, George W. (Amy) Bailey Jr., of Linden and Craig A. (Trudy) Bailey Sr., of Linden; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

     A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26,  2023 at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of service at Welker Funeral Home. Dutch Rinker will officiate. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Jersey Shore Cemetery.

     The family expressed a special thank you to Dr. Ellis and the staff in the Geisinger Jersey Shore Critical Care Unit and Dr. Nesbitt, Erin and Misty at the Gatehouse.
