Raymond Agae Obituary

Raymond Iafeta Agae, 59, passed away on June 30, 2025. He was born on March 29, 1966, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Atilua and Thelma Agae.

In his later years, he made his home in Jersey Shore. Raymond attended Pearl City Elementary in Hawaii, Pelton Middle School and Galileo High School in San Fransisco and graduated Leone High School in American Samoa where he was in the ROTC program. He was a proud veteran of the Gulf War Era and Peacetime, having faithfully served in the United States Army from September 27, 1988, to December 20, 1995. His commitment to duty and love for his country was a defining part of his life.

For the past ten years, Raymond worked as a custodian at Lycoming College. He took immense pride in his work—always going above and beyond what was asked of him. His dedication was a quiet testament to his character: humble, kind, intelligent, loving, generous, and full of good humor. Raymond was a passionate reader, often losing himself in the pages of his many beloved books. Before Barnes & Noble closed, it was not uncommon to find him there for hours, browsing and reading. He also had a deep appreciation for public libraries and gave back to his community by volunteering at the Williamsport Library—another space that brought him peace and joy.

Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Atilua and Thelma Agae, and his brother, Scott Agae.

He is survived by his siblings: Eddie Agae, Anna Stroup, Julia Puletasi, Tony Agae, Cindy Queypo, and Wendy Obey, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. His memory lives on in their hearts and in the countless lives he touched through his warmth and quiet strength.

A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2025 at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore, with full military honors conducted by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard.
