Richard E. Fryer

     Richard E. "Uncle Buck" Fryer, 66, of Avis, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg.
     Born June 30, 1955, in Jersey Shore, he was a son to the late Dale E. Fryer and the former Beverly Signor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his companion of 40 years, Patricia Higgins; a brother, Dale E. Fryer; a sister, Linda Fryer Green; and two nephews, Michael Fryer and Gregory Green.
     Richard was a 1973 graduate of Jersey Shore High School. For many years, he worked as a truck driver for Ceva Logistics, visiting 48 states.
     He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer R. Jeirles of Lock Haven; a sister, Leah A. Fryer of Avis; two grandchildren; Carrie and Shane Higgins, who he raised; sister in law, Dawn E. Fryer; and several nieces and nephews.
     A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2021, at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. A time of visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Monday until the time of service at Welker Funeral Home. The Rev. Dean Olson will officiate.
