Richard Brooks Moore, 84, passed away at home, surrounded by his children and grandchildren on Sept. 7. Born Jan. 1, 1939 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Leroy and Leora (Chase) Moore. After serving in the military, he married Beth E. (Green) Moore on May 27, 1967 in Washington, DC. She preceded him in death on Feb. 4, 2022.
Richard (Dick, as his family and friends referred to him), was a strong, quiet man with a quick wit, who grew up with four brothers and two sisters who helped the growth of his deep love and devotion for family, his sense of humor, and love of the outdoors and animals. He would often sit in the background, and with great comedic timing surprise the room with his one-liners or "dad" jokes.
Devoted to family, his life was dedicated to making sure that everyone else was doing ok, and put their needs before his own. He held various jobs throughout his life, but most recently retired from 30-plus years of serving as the Pine Creek Township tax collector.
He is survived by three of his four children, two daughters, Deb Moore, Tamra Rook (Robert); and a son, Richard D. Moore; 10 grandchildren, Jeffry Shuey, Josh Shuey (Hanna) Katy Beth Forman, Zachary Shuey, Jonathan Springman, Nick Carpenter (Sassha), Russell Zerby (Mackenzie), Alyssa Demetro, Lee Springman, and Luke Springman; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Greg Moore (Debbie); and two sisters, Donna Baldinger and Sherry Karchner (Jack); and his sisters-in-law, Peggy (Buddy) Johnson and Helen Moore.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Shuey; brothers, Dr Leroy Thomas Moore, Dr. John Harvey Moore, and James; and sister-in-law, Jane Moore; brother and sister-in-law, David and Brook Green.
