Robert L. Shirey

     Robert L. Shirey, 79, of Jersey Shore, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023 at the Williamsport Home.

     Born June 22, 1944 in Williamsport, he was the son to the late Oscar L. Shirey and the former Martha H. Hilling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna L. Volkman, and three brothers, Gordon, Edward, and Oscar.

     Robert was a graduate of Williamsport High School where he excelled in football and wrestling and continued on to honorably serve his country in the United States Navy. He retired from Penn College as Maintenance Electrician and a member of the Jersey Shore American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle.

     He is survived by three sons, Robert M. (Kathy) Shirey of Jersey Shore, Rodney E. Shirey of Linden, and Ryan T. Shirey of Linden; a daughter, Robin A. (Fred) Bower of Linden; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, David L. (Beverly) Shirey of Linden.

     Services and burial will be held at a later date at the Wildwood Cemetery.

     Arrangements are entrusted to Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, Jersey Shore.
