Robert Walter Stack

     Robert Walter Stack, 90, of Jersey Shore, passed away Monday, September 12, 2022 at UPMC Susquehanna.

     Born November 17, 1931 in Girardville, PA, he was a son to the late Walter Edward Stack and the former Edith Davies. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, the former Marilyn Ann Hartz; two children, Heidi Ann Stack Howell and Steven Jeffrey Stack; sister, Ann Stack; and a brother, Jimmy Stack.

     After graduating from Girardville High School, Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He then attended the Williamsport Technical Institute. For many years, Bob served as the Lycoming County Deputy Sheriff and District Judge.

     Over the years, Bob's involvement in numerous memberships and organizations shows his dedication to serve. He was a life member of the Jersey Shore V.F.W., very active in the Lions Club, Citizens Hose Fire Company, and devoted to the First United Methodist Church. He was a  past Boy Scout Leader, Little League Manager, a former Mason, Borough Council member, Bi-Centennial Committee member, and involved with Town Meeting. He was an avid fan of the Navy Football, the Philadelphia Eagles, Flyers and Phillies, Chicago Cubs, and the Jersey Shore Bulldogs.

     Bob's greatest joy in life was his family. More than any things mentioned above, he was so very proud of the his children, grandchildren and his devoted wife, whom he loved so much. As he wrote, "she was the thread that held our family together, and was the best thing that ever happened to him."

     He is survived by two sons, Robert David (DJ) Stack of Laflin, PA and David Walter (Rose) Stack of Vestal, NY; grandchildren, Rob (Bree), Holly, Alex, Andi, Steven, and Joel (Monique); great-grandson, Roman; sisters, Phyllis Ann Leed and Edythe Lu Carr; and son-in-law, Gil Howell.

     A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Saturday, until the time of service at Welker Funeral Home. Pastor Calvin Phillips will officiate. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Jersey Shore Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard. A luncheon will follow at the First United Methodist Church, 236 S. Main St., Jersey Shore.
