Ronald Eugene Guthrie, 65, of Jersey Shore, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born March 24, 1958 in Jersey Shore, he was a son to the late Clyde Guthrie Sr. and the former Margurite Mumma.
He retired from Jersey Shore Steel in 2020 after 44 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, the former Elaine Harman, for which they would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on July 3. Also surviving are his daughters, Vanessa Guthrie (Tyler), of Raleigh, NC, Ronni Hafer (JT), of Avis, and Madeline Guthrie, of Jersey Shore; grandchildren, Chase Rinehart, Harley Hafer, and Hailey, Olivia, Austin, and Bradley Bedard; brothers, Clyde (Martha) and Jerry Guthrie; a sister, Patricia Guthrie; and his beloved dogs, Bud and Scooby, which will miss him dearly.
Ronnie, as most knew him, loved to be out in his garage and was a car enthusiast. As a matter of fact, who that knew him always had the question of what car he had now and what he was planning or adding to it. He was always getting something different and modifying his cars until he ran out of ideas. Then it was time to get something new and start over. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially his grandson, Chase, who he had a very special bond with.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, James and Fae Harman, and his beloved dog, Bandit.
A memorial gathering of family and close friends will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023 at his daughter Ronni's house from 1-3 p.m.
Arrangements are entrusted to Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, Jersey Shore.
