Russell Harold Rhinehart passed away on June 15, 2024 at his residence in Avis. He was 93 years of age.
He was the husband of Beverly Ann Rhinehart (Welshans). They were married on Dec. 30, 1954 and shared 69 years of marriage together. Rarely spending a day apart from each other. Born in Avis on Sept. 13, 1930, he was the son of the late Edward and Emma Rhinehart (Hoffman).
He attended Jersey Shore High School and left the school to help work on the family farm before returning and graduating. He would later join the United States Army as a Specialist 3 serving during the Korean War. He dedicated 2 years of active duty and 6 years Reserve to his country.
He was employed by Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven for most of his adult life until the company's closing. Afterwards he worked at Tiadaghton Mall in Jersey Shore followed by employment at Weis Market in Jersey Shore until he retired in his mid 80's.He had a strong religious belief and attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Avis before attending Woolrich Methodist church. He often would spend countless hours a day with his wife Beverly watching various Christian programs on television at their home in their later years.
Russ enjoyed working outdoors on his property and around his home. Spending most of his free time working on various projects. He loved sports and was a loyal supporter of Jersey Shore sports programs. He was a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles and he was once a season ticket holder of the Penn State football team before becoming an usher at Beaver Stadium along with his Son, Grandson, and Son in Law for 16 years.
He will be fondly remembered for his love and devotion to his family. He enjoyed holding family events at his home with all his children and grandchildren, especially holding Easter egg hunts every year for many years in his backyard. Often locating unfound eggs throughout the year while mowing grass.
He is survived by his Spouse, their son Gordon Rhinehart (Jane), and daughters Julie Heckman (Edward) and Denise Peddigree (Jim). Six Grandchildren Beth Wrench(Barry), Lisa Fisher(Matt), Brian Heckman (Emily), Vanessa Workoff (Mike), Erin Peddigree (Russ), and Eric Peddigree (Hilary). 10 Great Grandchildren, Makayla, Landon, Logan, Tyson, Macy, Alaina, Caleb, Liam, Evie, Abigail.
There will be a private graveside service held at Rest Haven Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
