Teddy Lee "Ted" Fanning

     Teddy Lee "Ted" Fanning, 87, of Jersey Shore, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Jersey Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

     Born May 7, 1936 in Jersey Shore, he was a son to the late Wilbur T. Fanning and the former Edna I. Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Kathryn E. Hastings on January 13, 2018. They were united in marriage on July 2, 1955. Also preceding him in death was a daughter-in-law, Shannan C. Fanning. 

     Ted honorably served his country in the United States Army. He retired from McCormick Dray Line and later worked as a coach driver for Susquehanna Trailways. Ted was a life member of the Avis Fire Company, a member of the Avis United Methodist Church and a choir member. He served on the Jersey Shore School Board for over 30 years.

     He is survived by a son, Kevin D. (Deanne) Fanning, of Jersey Shore; a daughter, Janice B. (Carl) Welshans, of Jersey Shore; 3 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 1 step granddaughter.

     A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at Welker Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeffrey Howell will officiate. He will be laid to rest in the Rest Haven Memorial Park.
