Terry Blair Mantle, 69, of Jersey Shore, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at his home.
Born Sept. 17, 1952 in Lancaster, he was a son to Ralph D. Mantle of Jersey Shore and the former Helen Breon.
Terry was a 1970 graduate of Jersey Shore High School, where he participated in wrestling, football, track (Varsity Club 3 years), was President of class 4 years, was a standout athlete, and a State Champion in Javelin. He graduated in 1974 from Lock Haven University, where he earned his Bachelors of Education and played football.
Terry worked as a Special Education teacher at Warrior Run High School, where he coached baseball and football. He also coached track and field and football at Lycoming College. He coached football for 20 years with two national championship games.
He enjoyed hunting, skiing and boating on the river and was a lifelong member of the Larryville United Methodist Church.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Dolores Mantles, they were united in marriage on August 4, 1979; two daughters, Susan M. (Shawn) Sutherland of Ashburn, VA and Morgan Ashley (Doug) Zeiders of Montoursville; son, Ralph Nathan (Holly) Mantle of McElhattan; grandchildren, Peyton Sutherland, McKenna Sutherland, Benjamin Zeiders and Remy Mantle; and a brother, Larry (Barbara) Mantle of Versailles, Ky.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. A time of visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m.until the time of service Saturday at Welker Funeral Home. The Rev. Dean Olson will officiate.
