Vernon R. Shipman

    Vernon R. Shipman, 92, of Mill Hall, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at his home.

    Born May 7, 1931 in Sunbury, he was the son to the late Dr. Martin R. Shipman and the former Elmira Betzer. 

    Vernon honorably served his country in the United States Army and Air Force during the Korean War. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Metal as a medic and was responsible for many lives saved. He was an avid sportsman and hunter, and loved the outdoors in PA but also many parks in North America where he harvested many big game animals. He also loved feeding deer and turkeys just to watch and admire them. 

    He was a private Pilot for over 50 years and just recently flew in October to take in the fall foliage. Vernon took up golf later in life and enjoyed playing with his kids, grandkids and friends. He owned Zion Denture Center where he worked for 50 years.

    He is survived by his wife, the former Betty M. Yerg; children, Steven R. (Susan) Shipman of Mill Hall and Scott V. Shipman of Turbotville; grandchildren, Bradley (Courtney) Shipman and Brayden (Dara) Shipman; and his great-grandchildren, Priscilla, Titus, Hosana, Tabitha, and Oaklin.

    Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
