William L. Kirkwood, 94, of Jersey Shore, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025 at his home.
Born Oct. 22, 1930 in Pottersdale, he was a son to the late David Kirkwood and the former Leola Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Idabelle E. Kline, they were united in marriage on Aug. 11, 1956.
After 35 years of service, he retired from Conrail and later worked as a courier for Commonwealth Bank. He was a member of the Fairplay Gospel Fellowship Church and the Citizens Hose Co. in Jersey Shore.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara A. (Randy) Vanemon and Pamela E. (Thomas) White, both of Jersey Shore; brother, John D. Kirkwood, of Karthus; sister, Mary Louise Gardner, of Mahaffey; seven grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held noon Wednesday, April 30, at Fairplay Gospel Fellowship, 1625 Walnut St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon at church. The Rev. Michael A. Guiswite will officiate. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Jersey Shore Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fairplay Gospel Fellowship Church. Arrangements entrusted to Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, Jersey Shore.
