William Kline Obituary
William Rutherford Kline, 86, of Jersey Shore, died March 10, 2020, at Jersey Shore Hospital.
Born July 27, 1933 in Milton, he was the son of Hanna and Charles Kline. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois M. Kline; a son, Barry L. Kline; a son, Bruce W. Kline (Marilyn); grandchildren, Alyssa and Alexander; a great-granddaughter Kora; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and their families. He was the last of nine siblings, Kenneth Kline (Marie), Raymond Kline (Hannah), Paul (Pete) Kline (Eleanor), Betty Kline Huff (George), Patricia Kline Dentinger (Bill), Irene Kline Wertz (Bob), Gladys Kline Metzer (Kenneth), and Beatrice Lunger (Ken).
Bill was a graduate of Milton High School and immediately enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War (1952 to 1956). After an honorable discharge, he attended Williamsport Community College where he met the love of his life (Lois Mencer). He was trained in electronics and eventually took over the Mencer family business, selling and servicing TVs and appliances. Their building on Market Street now houses the District Magistrate Office and several apartments.
Bill was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Jersey Shore, joining after he moved to town. He was a great musician, playing lead and rhythm guitar as well as vocals in many groups throughout his life including the local favorite, Joe Murray Band. He was an avid bowler, hunter and sportsman.
He loved his family and his friends and was always warm and friendly to everyone he met. Thanks to all his neighbors, friends and family during the past few months for the love and support.
A visitation hour will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., Saturday, March 14, followed by a memorial service from 10 to 11 a.m., at First United Methodist Church, 236 S. Main St, Jersey Shore, PA 17740. After a graveside service, lunch will be served in the downstairs of the church.
Family will provide flowers and suggest memorial contributions in Bill's name be made to First United Methodist Church.
