   Stanley J. Welshans Sr., 79, of Oval, passed away Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at UPMC Williamsport.
   Born March 7, 1938, in Rauchtown, he was a son to the late Frank H. and Ida E. (Gamble) Welshans.
   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy L. Shadle and Beverly Jane Buttorff; and 7 brothers, E. William, Buddy E., Merril S., Larry L. Sr., Richard K., Paul L., and Barry L. Sr. Welshans.
   Stanley honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. Throughout his life, Stanley worked for the Forestry Department, Piper Aircraft, and Mardens.
   He enjoyed being outdoors and doing yard work, but his greatest love was spending time with his family.
   Surviving are his loving wife of 21 years, the former Edna R. Myers; three children, Stanley Jr. (Lyssa) Welshans, of Edgewood, Texas, and Sherrie (Jeffrey) Brungard, of Loganton, and Sandra (Richard) Simon, of McElhattan; step children, Michelle (John) Lupole, Margaret Sylvanio (Bobby Sweeley), William (Dawn) Sylvanio, and Leif Fredrikson, all of Jersey Shore; a brother, Luke Welshans, of Rauchtown; two sisters, Mavis (Lee) Rauch, of Bastress, and Sharon (Harold) Lamey, of Rauchtown; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
   A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the Limestone Cemetery (across from the St. James Lutheran Church, 3242 Middle Rd., Jersey Shore), with full military honors accorded by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard.
