     Mary E. Berfield, 101, of Jersey Shore, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019, at UPMC Susquehanna, Williamsport.
     Born Aug. 9, 1917, in Jersey Shore, she was the daughter of Edgar K. Miller and the former Edith Weaver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick E. Berfield, on Aug. 23, 1993, they were united in marriage in 1933, a daughter, Lola A. Hauser and a great-grandson, Jason L. Hauser.
     For 90 years she was a faithful member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Jersey Shore and was the nursery director for 50 years. For several years she was employed by the Jersey Shore Area School District and was a graduate of the Jersey Shore High School.
     Mary is survived by a son, David E. (Annie) Berfield, of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
     A funeral service will be held Saturday May 11, at 10 a.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1407 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 9 a.m. Saturday until time of services in the church.
     She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. Rev. Brian Moyer, her pastor, will officiate.
     Family will provide flowers and suggest memorial contributions be made in her name to the Trinity United Methodist Church.
